While almost everyone in the United States has some kind of dream or fantasy trip that is based on visiting Hawaii, and standard images of the beautiful island, its gorgeous sands and shores and delicious food typically comes to mind when the state is mentioned, there are actually a diverse number of reasons why most people would love and frequently make it a priority to visit Hawaii. And each of the islands and cities in the state has a distinct cultural atmosphere and various attractions, landmarks and entertainment options.

This is particularly true for Honolulu, which in addition to its incredibly beautiful geography is known for its tremendous culture scene and traditional heritage. Not only is it the capital and mostly highly populated city in Hawaii, it is full of amazing and diverse entertainment attractions and prestigious cultural landmarks. It houses the only contemporary art museum in the state, which is appropriately called the Contemporary Museum and it is also the location of the Hawaii State Art Museum. Many of the guests in the best Honolulu hotels enjoy an afternoon in one of the museums in addition to or in lieu of spending the entire day on the beach. Oh, what a dilemma.

The Contemporary Museum has two main campuses. The main, multi gallery venue being the one in Honolulu and there is another branch in Makiki. The Honolulu campus is located in the First Hawaiian Center . The museum has an extensive permanent collection and it also features prominent visiting and touring exhibits. The Hawaii State Art Museum is known for its incredible collection of traditional Hawaiian art pieces, as well as for demonstrating and supporting the work of local island artists. There are three galleries in the museum that are in addition to the traveling exhibits that are a regular part of its offerings as well as the special programs. This is a great place to see some of the contemporary and history culture and art of Hawaii.

The history of Zurich is as long and complex as any of the streets one might cross and get caught up in while enjoying the incredible event that happens here every summer. The streets are mysterious and inviting, as enticing as any chapter or channel in the history of the region, where the multiple cultures pile up over time, reflecting and refracting each other in multiple directions.

In some senses, the Street Parade is full of metaphors that are impossible to split open with the tools found in a box that is as heavy as common sense. In another sense, there is only this present right here, and the present only lasts for nine hours. It’s enough time to find one’s way into a party, and to find one’s way into a moment that keeps evoking a past that needs more water because it’s hot. It’s also summer, and even here, everyone needs to keep hydrating, which is how people sometimes refer to drinking water. The terms don’t matter after a certain point.

Although the choices of fine hotels are more complex to manage in August, they are not as complex as the streets, which mirror and mock history, and become something altogether more certain when the music is loud. House and techno are here, and they all speak to a sentiment that this is truly it. It has to be, because in Zurich, the party people understand that this is what we all wait for.

Love Parades might come and go, ebb and flow with the changing times, where changing sponsorships suggest an end to an era that began before the wall fell in the other city. There are new walls here, and new eras, and for this moment, Zurich starts to rise again, its own wall to contend with in the history of all things. This is the street party that people wait for, and every year, there is a new sense that these complex beats do move on and over each other, like bodies that dance in the sun, watching the summer disappear and invoking another season where art is made in the hands and the eyes of another stranger.

Majorca is an island paradise, the kind that dreams and promises are made on. It’s one of the most gorgeous natural settings in the world, with beaches that are stunning both in their natural allure, as well as the allure of the other travelers enjoying themselves. The city is composed of many artists and expatriates, making for a subtly Bohemian vibration that runs through the core of everything here. It has a lot to offer the savvy traveler, and it makes good sense to stay at a 5 star hotel. Majorca is best seen from the lap of luxury, to help refresh the body and the mind. The sea does some of this work, and the nightlife can also help, but our hotels are necessary to really seal the deal.

In Majorca, there is a fantastic combination of old-world charm blended with the best of modern technologies, so you can be in touch with the past and future here. There’s a romantic aura in the city, that can really help a perspective to shift, so you can come back to your senses and find the pulse in you that enjoys life. When you wake up, Majorca is here, to offer fantastic, lazy days in the Mediterranean sun. The sun can provoke gorgeous daydreams, and it’s been an inspiration for many artists here, including Geroges Sands and Laura Riding, who are some of the subjects of Renée Green’s Endless Dreams and Water Between.

This is an exhibition by the famous artist and filmmaker from Cleveland, Ohio, whose spectacularly complex installations have compelled viewers all around the world. This particular installation is the most recent of works by Renée Green and uses Majorca as one of her subjects. The artist is known for using place as character in her works, which are often inscribed with the ambiguities of history. By placing objects in careful juxtaposition, she forces the viewer to participate in making meaning, and also to see themselves reflecting on, and speaking to, history. This work has been touring all over the world, including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Museé Cantonal des BeauxArts, and is a magnificent way of thinking about Majorca both here and away.
