In the Blue Mountains Outside Sydney

Sydney, the largest city in Australia, contains over four million people, known by some as Sydneysiders.  The “Harbour City” is influenced by a great many cultures, as is right for a place that began as the main destination for anyone immigrating to this continent country.  The city was founded in 1788 by Commodore Arthur Phillip at Sydney Cove.  It’s where the rest of the world gets its idea of Australia — from the world-famous Sydney Opera House, the Harbor Bridge and all its many beaches.  But Sydney should also be known for its many parks, including the nearby national parks.

In a recent trip, I arrived and quickly found accommodation sydney australia and went about the business of confirming my tour reservations.  A tour I wanted was already booked, so the concierge was able to get me onto another tour with the same itinerary.  The plan was to go to Featherdale Wildlife Park, and then to Leura, and a trip to the Blue Mountains and then on to Scenic World.  The wildlife park was terrific.  Not only did you see kangaroos and koalas and wallabies, but you were able to pet them!  In Leura, I just had time to purchase a sandwich, then it was back on the bus.  I’d say, if you want to shop, shop first, then grab a sandwich; otherwise, you’ll be spending all your time in a restaurant.

When we arrived at the Blue Mountains, there were too many clouds.  We couldn’t see a thing, so that was a bit disappointing.  We skipped Echo Point entirely; however, later, you do have an hour and a half at Scenic World.  That was wonderful.  I love all kinds of trains, at Scenic World, they have the Katoomba Railway.  It’s a scenic railway that takes you over a thousand feet down a really steep incline into the rainforest, and then you can take a cable car back up.  I highly recommend it!  I might have loved it more, if we had had better weather.  I was certainly glad I bought a poncho at the shop above.  Remember to bundle up warm in the mountains.  Sweater purchases was one of the main activities in the shop that day!
