Towering Kuala Lumpur

We lived in Toronto Canada for a few years and being in Kuala Lumpur felt eerily familiar. they have a tower here that looks for all the world like the CN Tower that graces the skyline of Toronto, and of course a mega mall that is reminiscent, too. In fact, from the international feel of the population to the luxury hotels of Kuala Lumpur we felt at home, thought we could go see a hockey game at any time. We decided, as good tourists and for the contrast and no doubt a good photo, we went up to the observation deck of the tower. We stood on the platform and could see forever, thinking we could see that CN Tower in Toronto, but no, alas, and got a great view (how could you not) of the Twin Towers, the Petronas Twin Towers, the eight sided behemoth that stand astride the Kuala Lumpur skyline like titans, come down to make things right. We decided one such tower experience was enough and instead of going to Petronas we decided to have a little lunch in the Telecommunications Tower, as it is called. We actually climbed the two thousand steps to the top, taking the elevator down, and arrived flush faced and ready to sit, and sit we did as the incredible modern panorama of Kuala Lumpur rotated beneath us as we slowly turned with the Tower. A group of Americans was nearby, and we exchanged pleasantries and tips for good Chinese food (everywhere) to shops to make sure we hit in the Central Market. Well, I definitely wanted to to be a tourist and when we got down after our Indian food lunch decided to but T shirts emblazoned with the Patronas Towers printed on them .
