Majorca is an island paradise, the kind that dreams and promises are made on.  It’s one of the most gorgeous natural settings in the world, with beaches that are stunning both in their natural allure, as well as the allure of the other travelers enjoying themselves.  The city is composed of many artists and expatriates, making for a subtly Bohemian vibration that runs through the core of everything here.  It has a lot to offer the savvy traveler, and it makes good sense to stay at a 5 star hotel.  Majorca is best seen from the lap of luxury, to help refresh the body and the mind.  The sea does some of this work, and the nightlife can also help, but our hotels are necessary to really seal the deal.

In Majorca, there is a fantastic combination of old-world charm blended with the best of modern technologies, so you can be in touch with the past and future here.  There’s a romantic aura in the city, that can really help a perspective to shift, so you can come back to your senses and find the pulse in you that enjoys life.  When you wake up, Majorca is here, to offer fantastic, lazy days in the Mediterranean sun.  The sun can provoke gorgeous daydreams, and it’s been an inspiration for many artists here, including Geroges Sands and Laura Riding, who are some of the subjects of Renée Green’s Endless Dreams and Water Between.

This is an exhibition by the famous artist and filmmaker from Cleveland, Ohio, whose spectacularly complex installations have compelled viewers all around the world.  This particular installation is the most recent of works by Renée Green and uses Majorca as one of her subjects.  The artist is known for using place as character in her works, which are often inscribed with the ambiguities of history.  By placing objects in careful juxtaposition, she forces the viewer to participate in making meaning, and also to see themselves reflecting on, and speaking to, history.  This work has been touring all over the world, including the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and the Museé Cantonal des BeauxArts, and is a magnificent way of thinking about Majorca both here and away.

Charities have become money laundering victims. So far, well over 80 state and federal legislators who received funds from the indicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff have immediately sent the funds back to the charities. Some of these same funds went to Native American organizations, since official of a tribe are considered corrupt, but then the American Heart Association, the Boy Scouts of America, the Salvation Army, the Pentagon Memorial Fund, the Veterans organizations, Christian missions, hurricane relief agencies, social service groups, animal shelters and more have greatly benefited from the fervently unloading of campaign contributions and other compromising largess of lobbyist.

Would dedicating the ill-gotten gains of crime to a charitable purpose make the money become taint free? Would it release those who profited from the original crime or even have been complicit? Would it conveniently absolve the matter in the public mind? Would it speed the obligation to make whole the victims of crime, no matter the needs or ignorant they might be? It seems so. Some will argue that there is little ‘clean money’, and it’s hard to believe that so many non-profits have never drawn the line when it comes to receipt of laundered money. They is a lack of inquiry into just how Abramoff was able to go unhindered and unchecked with his use of non-profits and foundations as being the active components in his corruption schemes.

Charities are supposedly grounded with integrity and values. Their services shouldn’t go beyond moral leadership of their philanthropic nature, particularly in times when the private and public institutions are failing us at every turn . Charities need to implement and practice due diligence and also become accountable with transparencies just like all the other multi-international organizations. They need to have, which is a shame, enhanced regulations that will stop money-laundering schemes to take advantage of the needs of these charities to produce results.

The county or state fair is one of the last places people consider when giving examples of when customer service is a high priority. One of the things that is interesting about this is that customer service is actually an important aspect of all businesses and fields. However, applying to the circumstances of something such as a fair or carnival actually serves to exemplify the universal nature and importance of excellent customer service skills. Steve Barbarich is more than aware of this need and has incorporated it into his business philosophy.

A state fair can be an extremely busy event and many aspects of customer care will come into play. This actually begins with the planning and layout of the event, and ensuring that there are adequate restrooms and first aid services, as well as information booths and easy access to needs such as ticket sales. A well planned fair also makes finding specific attractions easy and convenient, and places rides and associated features in a similar location. Many people consider the food at a fair to be one of its greatest attractions, and having many venues with standard items is important to prevent frustrating lines and waits. It is also logical to not place ice cream or cotton candy stands next to a large roller coaster.

While the fair is taking place the atmosphere can be hectic and sometimes chaotic. Instead of letting customer service skills take a back seat, it is important to realize that they are needed at that time as much as ever. This covers everything from a friendly and helpful voice at an information booth, to a constant eye on ride safety and the well being of the fair patron. Staff members who are tending the specific rides should always be watching for potential malfunctions or precarious patron behaviors or seating placement circumstances.

Hippocrates noted the practice of hydrotherapy in the 5th Century BC.  The prefix means literally water, hydro and is used in reference to any therapy that is used that involves water, in all forms.  Ice packs are considered to be hydrotherapy, as well as the use of vaporizers when one is congested, and the soaking in hot water of spas or tubs.

Many ancient civilizations in Rome, Greece and Egypt have recorded uses for the medicinal or healing properties that these forms of therapy provide.  Public baths were common and many doctors at the supported the claims of the positive effects on one’s overall health through exposure to the mineral springs.  The public baths were not looked upon well by the Christians following the decline of the Roman Empire.

People attended these baths in the nude, and this was frowned upon by the society at the time.  During the Renaissance time period, they regained their popularity however, as many physicians began to rely on the sulfur that was found in these natural springs to treat various skin conditions.  There were also documented cases of the infertility being cured through soaking in the iodine rich waters.  As the medical technology advanced and the effects of the hot soaks were being analyzed using scientific methods this began to increase even more.

Many of the models found at choosehottubsdirect.com are based on some of these earlier models, and as the manufacturing capabilities improved, so to have the models of today.  During the 19th Century, a man named Vincent Priessnitz was known for his ability to help people using hydrotherapy, to help them with diseases that were previously thought to be incurable.  He became well known for treating cases of pneumonia, typhus and anxiety and thus, the beginning of modern day water therapy had begun.

Social and Environmental due diligence, in recent years, has evolved internationally and is recognized as a critical aspect in connection with asset and property transactions. They are now significant liabilities that will be imposed on to the new owner.  Many companies are facing the need for growth or refinancing in order to sustain a continuous environment of developmental gain of the business. The private equity industry has an important role to play to meet these needs. The consulting firm should also have access to a global network of partners. Thereby offering a thorough local knowledge and presence regardless of the countries and this also should include cross-border transactions.

Grilling on an Island

Now is the time of year to get outside.  Just today the weather was breezy and cooling down, the perfect kind of weather in the Southwest for an outdoor party.  With just a few necessary grilling accessories, some funky decoration in the backyard, and little bit of culinary creativity with ingredients, one can prepare a meal that everyone will remember.  One advantage to building a grill island, is that these parties can be planned in a short amount of time, and with all the effort going into the preparation of the food.

The grills installed can be either wood and charcoal burning or gas heated.  The differences is that there will be more flavor with the previous type, but more speed with the gas.  With an island, one has the option to include bar stools and a very homey atmosphere in the backyard.  Guests may sit around and chat, have appetizers or cocktails, while you prepare the food.  This in an excellent atmosphere to gather one’s friends around them, and share a meal and conversation.

For any meat or vegetable that is grilled, a rub of oil, white wine, garlic, and celery salt will not only provide a lovely aroma in the yard, as well as the neighborhood, but will provide rich flavors with just a hint of spice.  If you will be marinating the meal, consider the consistency of the particular foods, some need longer marination, and some shorter.  Any soft vegetable such as the mushroom or the squash, only requires about thirty minutes to soak up the flavors, while beef or pork may do best being marinated over-night.  For the vegetarians, tofu will take just under one hour to marinate, and does great on the grill with a little BBQ sauce.

As for the accessories needed, for flakier white fish there are fish cages that will hold the meat in place preventing it from slipping through the grates.  More dense fish, beef, chicken or pork can be placed right on the grill.  For the vegetables, they contain no fat, so it is best to either marinate them in a mixture that has canola oil in it, or to spray down the grates with a non-stick product.  In all having a permanent outdoor facility makes it easier to cook out all the time, giving one the option at a moment’s notice, when the weather or the moment is just perfect.

Daubi is one of the seven United Arab Emirates, it is the largest of the seven emirates in population and the second most populated of them. There are written documents indicate the existence of Dubai some one hundred and fifty years before the formation and establishment of the United Arab Emirates. Dubai shares its military, political and legal as well as economic functions with the six other emeries in the federal system set up to govern over them. Dubai and Abu Aubai are the only two of the United Arab Emirates possessing veto power over the rest of the emirates. Dubai is an amazing place filled with tourists and visiting businessmen from all over the region and planet enjoying the sun, sea, food and architecture.

Dubai is showy with spectacular architecture lining the water front. When completed Dubai will have the largest developed water front in the world and currently has somewhere between 15 and 20 percent of the worlds cranes in use all at one time. From a sleepy little city on the Aribian sea in the early 1990’s to the 2000 when many new buildings and high rises had been constructed to today where the building continues and the architectural styles continue to develop as one builder tries to out do another with a taller, fancier and more unusual building. Staying and visiting Dubai is easy with a state of the art air port to greet you on your arrival to the five star hotels Dubai to pamper you during your stay.

With all the usual water activities swimming, snorkeling, scuba diving, para sailing and boating to name only a few. The dining, night life and shopping the visitor here weather on business or pleasure will undoubtedly find plenty to do and to occupy your time.

There is an old legend in Hawaii, a legend about a grand and wise king who would fuse the separated islands of Hawaii together.  Kahunas foretold that the people would know it was him when a comet blossomed in the sky.  Indeed, the kahuna were correct.  Halley’s Comet did in fact soar above the Hawaiian firmament in 1758.  And one of the island’s greatest kings was born on that day in Paiea.  His name was Kamehameha, or the lonely one.   His grandfather was Keaweikekahialiiokamoku, another great king, presiding over a big part of Hawaii during his time.

There is yet another old legend that the kahuna tell of associated with King Kamehameha.  Whoever could budge a gigantic rock known as the Naha Stone, a stone that weighed 7,000 pounds, would be the supreme king of Hawaii, putting previous and subsequent royalty to shame.  And in fact, Kamehameha did allegedly move the stone.  According to the story, he flipped it over after heaving it up in that air.

Like all great lineages of kings and queens and courts, Kamehameha confronted opposition before he could transform into the great ruler he was supposed to be. After his uncle died, authority split.  Kamehameha and his uncle’s son, Kiwalao, fought it out for who would get to rule Hawaii.  There was civil war for a while but Kiwalao won eventually.  After organizing matters on his island, Kamehameha went out to gain control of the other islands, employing military technology from United States and various European countries.
Maui, then Molokai then Oahu all fell under his command, but is was in Oahu that the king faced one of his most gruesome battles ever.  On the Pali cliffs of Oahu, numerous numbers of warriors were killed, forced to plunge to their deaths on the rocks below.  The subsequent island came into the fold more peacefully thanks to the king who surrendered.  At long last, Kamehameha had lived up the destiny that the kahunas had prophesized of him.  A time of great prosperity ensued thanks to his usage of a tax system and trade with other Western countries.

His mystique as a great king does not end there with his past battles and wars.   His bones have been missing ever since he died in 1819.  A kahuna buried them in a secret place that still is unknown today, despite many searches to find them.   It is this legendary king that helps make Hawaii such a fantastic place to visit and learn about.

When in Bangkok, head straight for Khao San Road; it’s sheer madness, only at night though. During the day the street is lined with vendors selling anything from knock-offs to food. But, at night, the street is lined with actual makeshift bars that display signs like, ‘Cheap drinks, no ID required’, and tons of street sellers approaching you to buy the worst souvenirs that any self respecting tourist shouldn’t buy, but they do. Elephants even make an occasional appearance on the street.

Actually, I think Khao San is a bit of a ritual, a must do, at least for one night, but not more than that. Where I was staying, at one of the better hotels in Bangkok, Thailand, the concierge is glad to steer you else where, were one can meet other fellow travellers more easily, and since Thai food is so very very delicious, one should most definitely eat at restaurants instead of the fare being served on the street. Those roadside kitchens might serve a good curry and Pad Thai for a cheaper price, but nothing compares to being waited on and served with the same quality food in a nice air-conditioned room where you can have a decent conversation without having to deal with all the action going on in the street. I know there’s a great buzz around these street kitchen’s, but I prefer to know that I’m getting what I ordered and that the food was prepared properly.

Out on the street, you will encounter some scam artists, like if you go to the Grand Palace , there will be people telling you that a certain temple is closed for prayer and steer you into getting fitted for clothes you don’t need or buy jewelry. But, don’t let that stop you from going inside, because it’s only a scam and it’s so beautiful inside the temple. It’s well worth braving through all the scammers. Well, actually, Bangkok is well worth it no matter what my issues might be with it.

Katmandu, Nepal is an incredible city and one of the country’s major attractions for its own residents. Many South Asians plan a yearly visit to Katmandu to enjoy the commodities, entertainment and even some gambling at some of its casinos. International tourists staying at one of the Nepal hotels are also more than likely to enjoy an evening, afternoon, or possibly even an entire trip in a casino. Some of the more popular casinos in Katmandu are Casino Anna, Shangri La, Casino Royale and Casino Venus. And these are just to name a portion of them.

Different forms of gambling have actually played a role in Indian and Nepali culture and society for centuries. It is interesting to note, however, that these casinos are not open to the Napli population, but are there for tourists and business travelers. This is why international poker tournament stars rarely stem from Indian states and cities. However, it does not prevent the interest and also the support for tourist satisfaction in Katmandu. And of course, if poker or gambling isn’t your taste or preferred activity, Katmandu and the surrounding region have many other attractions, options, entertainments and great geographical scenery to enjoy.

Contemporary gambling and various card games including poker have made many transitions and have been perceived in various social contexts throughout the 20th century. In recent decades, the game of poker specifically has increased tremendously in popularity and also in social acceptance. In most countries and cultures, it has usually been played in dark private clubs and secret game rooms with shady characters in and around it. Today, the top poker stars are also household names and international personalities. In addition, the enormous popularity online gambling and poker sites have made it even more common for tourists visiting Katmandu to be extremely attracted to the casinos.

I think before I begin to describe my experience in India, I need to say that it was the toughest country to try to make sense. India is so huge and complex, so unfamiliar that spending five days here is truly inadequate for my attempts at understanding. I was constantly reminded that I’m in a developing country. To use only one word to describe India would be the word: challenging.

I headed out to explore Chennai. The weather was hot and muggy. I made my way through the security checkpoints coming off my ship, and as I entered the main street, I was overwhelmed with the huge amount of people, everywhere. There was nowhere where there wasn’t people. I didn’t make if far before I was hit with offers for an autorickshaw or bicycle. I found myself feading down the road going along with the chaotic and hectic traffic heading to the hotel Chennai India where I had reservations. Scooters, bicycles, motorcycles, oxen drawn wagons, cars, taxis and busses all shared the roads all at the same time. Traffic signs and lights are seen as a suggestion and lanes are ignored. A few minutes into my ride, I looked to the left and saw an old man sitting sideways as a passenger on the back of a motorcycle. He only had a loin cloth and his dark skin contrasted with his long white beard. He was carrying a small bag with the Hindu god Vishnu drawn on it. He was starring happily into the traffic. I actually found driving around in an autorickshaw in India was my favorite thing to do. I liked how all the locals could just zoom in and about with their motorcycles and watching groups of women and men walking together, and I really liked the occasional cow in the road.

Butterflies in Bali

“Hey, check this out,” I told Nikki as we sat in our hotel in Bali Indonesia, “Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.” “That’s nice. Who said that?” “Me,” I said. “Yeah, right,” Nikki teased. “Who was it really, Churchill?” Nikki was fun to chat with as we sat finishing our coffee, watching the surf of Bali and the blue ocean shining in the morning light. “Close,” I said, “It was Mark Twain. Good guess with Churchill though.” I put down my coffee cup. “What do you say we go to Wanasari? Wanasari has a park for butterflies, what say we rent motorcycles and…” Nikki did not give me a chance to finish. “I do not think old Mark Twain meant driving around Bali on motorcycles as sailing from the safe harbor. Let’s get a Jeep.” She is wise, so I agreed and we set off for the butterflies. the sun was just over the horizon, so we got a move on, thinking butterflies liked the morning. It was not that far from where we were staying in Tabanan. It was an easy drive and I wished silently that we had gone by motorcycle. Oh well, what would Twain have said? There were hundreds of butterflies, quite actively floating about. I particularly like the blue ones, with a kind of cobalt electric colored wings, and one landed right on my nose and seemed to stay there for several seconds, til it took off in a flutter that tickled my face. Everyone here seemed to be from away, we saw no locals visiting, so we shared the sights of hundreds of butterflies with people from all over the world.

HAIR is an American rock musical written by Galt MacDermot, with James Rado and Gerome Ragni who wrote the lyrics and book. It has been an incredible success and worked its way into mainstream popularity with songs like Age of Aquarius. The musical debuted in New York at the Off Broadway theatre Joseph Papp’s Public Theatre, now simply known as the Public. It first performed there in October of 1967 before opening on Broadway the following year. It’s a major achievement to have a show produced Off Broadway, and even bigger to have it transfer to Broadway, but to create a show that becomes such a success as HAIR is certainly the stuff that dreams are made on. Tourists staying in a luxury New York USA hotel are frequently visiting the city to experience one of Broadway’s newest productions.

When the musical was first produced, audiences and sometimes critics alike were shocked by the show’s content and consequently, it was created something of a controversy and many people opposed it. There was a now infamous nude scene that many found objectionable, as well as its irreverence for the American flag, and its depiction of drug use and seeming glorification of the perceived lewd and lascivious hippie lifestyle. It was certainly a product of the 1960s and its social and sexual revolutionary aspects. Interestingly, somehow despite the initial controversy the show went on to achieve a few top ten popular hits and also changed the face of the American musical. It is often considered to be responsible for creating the genre of rock musical, which has become one of Broadway’s most favorite musical styles. A feature film adaptation of the musical was created in 1979, and a Broadway revival was produced earlier this year. The production, which opened in March won both the Tony and Drama Desk Awards for best revival of a musical.

The concept of decorative window coverings and treatments was an incredible decorative consideration. Windows are found in most office spaces and in all homes, and given the amount of time one spends looking out them, it makes sense that they can sometimes even become the focal point of a room. Be they bay windows with breakfast nooks, or picture windows overlooking mountain, seaside or city views, the framing and decorating with shades from Next Day Blinds,  create works of art and design surrounding any window or sliding glass door.

There are either the simple mini blinds or the multi-layered Venetian blinds, each creating symmetry and harmony and color in rooms throughout one’s house. Decorating in this way allows one to have a different look or style for each section of the house, or one that flows together seamlessly. For those wishing to decorate on a budget, the windows are the best place to start, as many of the options are inexpensive and will create a new look with relatively little money and time spent.

The materials used to make the Venetian blinds are virtually limitless at Next Day Blinds, coming in a wide variety of solids and prints. This makes it easy to coordinate the materials and the patterns on other accessories throughout the house such as pillows, rugs or even shower curtains. Just as dark colors on the walls of small rooms can make one feel closed in, so too can dark and drab old curtains and draperies.

It is amazing the a new outlook on one’s living space is created, when one is looking out a bright and stylishly, framed window. The blinds also serve the purpose of offering privacy, as well as shade from the sun and the heat during the hotter winter months and insulation from the cold during the winter. Creativity with a purpose is what the blinds and the treatments provide, for a reasonable price and minimal time commitment.

Have a Tampa Cigar

For visitors looking for the best that Florida can offer, our luxury Tampa hotels are a sumptuous mix of innovation with tradition. You’ll have access to the latest technologies to keep you connected to the world at large, but also experience our unique hospitality that will leave you refreshed. We have carefully selected our hotels for their consistency in meeting high standards of excellence in both service and style. You will enjoy being pampered in an atmosphere that is both local and international, reflecting the best of contemporary tastes. Tampa has a very rich blend of cultures, with a long and fascinating history, and our hotels are a splendid vantage point from which to experience this exciting city.

There are always exciting things to do here, every day of the week, and visitors of all ages will be pleased with what Tampa has to offer. From museums to nightclubs, there is a wide array of choices. For cigar lovers, there is Ybor City, home to some of the oldest factories in the United States. The rolling industry here has faded in the past years, but there are still a number of excellent tobacco shops, and you can buy hand-rolled cigars at street fairs and other public events. The city’s connection to the cigar speaks to its diversity, and Ybor City in Tampa has a significant Afro-Cuban population. It grew at the end of the 19th century with the rise of tobacco here, and the history of this is fascinating and speaks to contemporary Tampa. Today this area is still largely composed of Americans with Cuban, Italian, and Spanish lineage.

Cigars in Tampa have a way of linking the present to the past, and in the tobacco leaf one can trace the history of human cultures in the process of migration. There is a fascinating nostalgia here for the earlier days, although the earlier days suggest enormously difficult labor. The workers in cigar factories would spend hours meticulously rolling the leaves together, in hot warehouses and on hard wooden chairs. At the same time, the workers were also read to during their workday, and this suggests an attempt to maintain and improve the interior intellectual life. It’s a complicated past, and one certainly worth exploring while you’re here, and you don’t have to light a cigar to enjoy the myths and histories.

I wrote a question on the Internet saying that I’m coming from Mumbai and before flying to Hong Kong, I’ll have a whole 30 hour layover, a Saturday and a Sunday in Singapore and that I have a few questions in order to make the most of my short stay. I asked what’s the most convenient area to get a luxury hotel because I want to stay as close to main attractions and features as possible. I asked if there are any interesting half day tours and would they be worth it. I don’t mind walking, so is it possible to get to see most of the city this way, just stopping by from time to time to visit the temples and interesting buildings or parks?  As for shopping, art the markets and malls open during the weekends? What will be the most interesting ones for buying Singapore handcrafted items, music, electronics and software? Are fakes also sold in Singapore?

The response I got was overwhelming, so I had to weed out a lot, but the best response I got from all my questions was that since I’m coming from Mumbai, I should stay right in the mix of Singapore, they recommend I stay at one the the Singapore luxury hotels that are located in the thriving part of Singapore. As for walking, I would really like the Clarke Quay and stroll the river all the way to the mouth and hop on a night cruise, if I can’t make that then I should try the Bugis, a great area for night life. They also recommended I take the China town and Little India tours. They said I’d be able to fit one in each day. They wished me luck and told me to enjoy my trip. Loaded with all this information, I know I’ll have a great trip. Isn’t the Internet wonderful?

When looking for your perfect Italian hotel, Florence should be on the list as one of the perfect spots to take a vacation and escape from the world.  Our hotels are specially selected to help you get away from all of your responsibilities in perfect Italian style and luxury.  We offer a splendid combination of the old and new world in our hotels, where modern convenience meets hospitality and graciousness.  There is a remarkable sense of design here, where all the myths and legends of the Italian’s exquisite taste and style turn out to be true.  The cuisine offered here is, of course, splendid, and has to be sampled to be believed, but the delicious aroma will make it impossible to avoid.  There is something to offer here that will please every member of the family, and let you begin your adventure with class.
Florence is of course one of the great art capitals of the world, having lived at the cutting edges of innovation for centuries.  Some of the great movements in visual art started here, and you can see some of the truly great masterpieces of world art right here.  The reputation is extremely solid, and very well-founded, and there are new artists coming from Florence all the time, born here or schooled here.  Monica Gazzo is one working artist doing fascinating work today with roots in Florence.  She was born in Buenos Aires, and came to Florence to study.
She did a considerable amount of new works of experimental theatre and performance art here, including a collaboration with Peter Schuman’s San Franscisco-based Bread and Puppet Theatre.  She later moved to San Francisco and Los Angeles to continue her work and education.  She maintained strong ties with Italy during all the subsequent phases of her career, and today is working as a filmmaker, videographer, and teacher.  She has an incredibly impressive list of credentials, having worked with many other interesting artists, such as the famous vocal performenr Joan La Barbara.  The work of Monica Gazzo is very lyrical and simultaneously challenges preconceived notions of race and gender.   It is fascinating to find her footprints in Florence, and trace her trajectory between the then and the now.

I got to participate in an experiment dealing with chocolate in New York City. I didn’t know what the experiment was until it was over, but I sure did like having to eat chocolate twice a day, everyday for a week. I was so pleased after eating the chocolate that I got New York Broadway tickets for a play which I never do. I even enjoyed the play, which I don’t like theater.

When I found out what the experiment was, I was amazed and stunned. It was a double-blind, placebo controlled, randomized experiment investigating whether chocolate exposed to good-intentional thoughts would enhance mood more than unexposed chocolate. Individuals, like me, were assigned to one of four groups and we were asked to record our moods each day for a week. We had to use the Profile of Mood States, we couldn’t just write down anything we wanted. So, for three, four and five, each person consumed a half-ounce of chocolate twice a day at a certain time of day. Three groups blindly received chocolate that had been intentionally treated by three different thought techniques. The intention in each case was for the people who ate the chocolate would experience a more enhanced sense of vigor, energy and well being.  The fourth group blindly received the untreated chocolates as the placebo control.

The hypothesis was that our recorded moods during the three days of eating chocolate would improve more with the intentional groups than in the control group. I was told most participants lived in the same geographical region also. The results on the third day of the experiment was that the moods had improved significantly with the group that received the intentional chocolates than in the
the non-intentional groups. I was informed, after the experiment that I was in the group that received the intentional chocolates. All I can say, is I really did feel so much better during this experiment, but I don’t know if it was because I could eat chocolate twice a day or if it was due to the intention.

Ruins of Formentera

I had just settled in among the Megalithic remains of ancient inhabitants and a burial tomb called Ca na Costa which looks like a funky sun dial and only fairly recently discovered. I should have been an archaeologist, I love old ruins (as opposed to new ruins, I suppose) and the long history of the Balearic islands stretches out from this point, with the Romans, the Phoenicians, Moors and others making visits and even living here for long stretches of time. Ask at any hotels Formentera has about the site and they probably will not know about it, maybe guiding you to more tourist destinations and towns like Es Pujols. Thats’ where I was headed next on my rented bike. It was hot and cloudless, the sea flat, and I could smell rosemary and salt air, birds calling overhead, and got into town to have a glass of beer and some tapas. Just then I saw a pretty young lady fiddling on her computer and plainly looking upset, the only down face  had seen onpeaceful Fromentera. I noticed too it happened to be a Mac, and since I knew a few things about Macs, offered my assistance. Seems she was a writer and was having trouble with the machine freezing up so she could not continue her work, so after a brief examination (of the computer, hey there) she was up and running. just then I thought I might get to know her a little better, beautiful Brit that she was, when her French boyfriend pulled up on a scooter, and off she went after thank you. Alas. but she did cover my tab, which was nice and unnecessary, and, I found out later, her email address, tucked into my book. I wondered if I would see her again on this trip?

Bangkok is the capitol city of Thailand. Bangkok began centuries ago as a trading post at the mouth of the Chao Phraya River during the Ayuttaya Kingdom. It was made the capitol city of Siam in 1786 after the burning of Ayutthaya. But the current kingdom of Rattanakosin did not begin until 1782 when the capitol city was moved across the river by Rama I. Over the 200 years or so the city has grown to become the political, social and economic centers of not only Thailand but Indonesia and all of south east Asia. Bangkok is the 22nd largest city in the world with more than 8 million residence officially and probably more like 15 million unofficially. Bangkok is a little over 600 square miles making it one of the largest cities in the world. The river that runs through Bangkok is the main geographical feature of the area. Bangkok is referred to the Venice of the east as the number of canal and waterways that cross the city. Bangkok is situated in a tropical climate, frequently hot and usually very humid with frequent rain in the winter. bangkok sits just 6 and a half feet above sea level which cause problems with flooding during the rainy seasons. Government is trying to deal with this situation by building higher banks along canals and river sides. The city sits entirely on a swamp and is thought to be sinking by 2 inches a year. The hottest recorded temperature in Bangkok is 105 the lowest was 49 degrees this was in January of 1924. Bangkok is a city rich in history and culture the traveler can enjoy 5 star hotel Bangkok  small quest houses or bed and breakfast accommodations. Shopping and eating and night life abound with all night markets and night clubs there is always something to do.

Towering Kuala Lumpur

We lived in Toronto Canada for a few years and being in Kuala Lumpur felt eerily familiar. they have a tower here that looks for all the world like the CN Tower that graces the skyline of Toronto, and of course a mega mall that is reminiscent, too. In fact, from the international feel of the population to the luxury hotels of Kuala Lumpur we felt at home, thought we could go see a hockey game at any time. We decided, as good tourists and for the contrast and no doubt a good photo, we went up to the observation deck of the tower. We stood on the platform and could see forever, thinking we could see that CN Tower in Toronto, but no, alas, and got a great view (how could you not) of the Twin Towers, the Petronas Twin Towers, the eight sided behemoth that stand astride the Kuala Lumpur skyline like titans, come down to make things right. We decided one such tower experience was enough and instead of going to Petronas we decided to have a little lunch in the Telecommunications Tower, as it is called. We actually climbed the two thousand steps to the top, taking the elevator down, and arrived flush faced and ready to sit, and sit we did as the incredible modern panorama of Kuala Lumpur rotated beneath us as we slowly turned with the Tower. A group of Americans was nearby, and we exchanged pleasantries and tips for good Chinese food (everywhere) to shops to make sure we hit in the Central Market. Well, I definitely wanted to to be a tourist and when we got down after our Indian food lunch decided to but T shirts emblazoned with the Patronas Towers printed on them .
